Rosselkhoznadzor Imposes Temporary Restrictions on Import of Fresh Apples and Pears from Serbian Establishment

Starting from 11 November 2021, the Rosselkhoznadzor imposes temporary restrictions on the import of fresh apples and pears exported to Russia by the supplier establishment SELECT FRUIT DOO (Serbia).

The suspension of supplies is related to multiple detections of brown marmorated stink bug (Halyomorpha halys) being a quarantine pest for the EAEU Member States in the above-mentioned products.

The restrictions are introduced on the basis of the VII International Plant Protection Convention and Federal Law No. 206-FZ of 21 July 2014 on plant quarantine.

Consignments shipped before 11 November 2021 are allowed to be imported to the territory of Russia only after passing the quarantine phytosanitary examination.

For reference:

Brown marmorated stink bug (Halyomorpha halys) is a serious agricultural pest. It was included in the list of quarantine pests of the Eurasian Economic Union on 1 July 2017. The damage caused by it is especially evident in fruit and vegetable crops. The infestation of citrus plants (orange, lemon, mandarine trees) and persimmon trees with the stink bug leads to the premature loss of fruits, which fail to ripen properly. Beside fruit and vegetable crops, the brown marmorated stink bug causes damage to berry plants, grain crops (maize) and legumes (beans, soybeans,), flowers and ornamental plants.
