The Rosselkhoznadzor Held Negotiations with the Turkish Competent Authority on Supplies of Turkish Plant Products to Russia

On August 25, the Rosselkhoznadzor held talks with Yunus Bayram, Deputy Director-General for Plant Quarantine of the General Directorate of Food and Control of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry of the Republic of Turkey, in the format of a videoconference.

During the meeting, representatives of the Russian agency reported violations in issued phytosanitary documents detected at inspection posts on the border of the Russian Federation. It was found that in some cases, when transporting batches of Turkish plant products by road, the data on vehicles in the phytosanitary certificate and its annex differed. In order to avoid downtime and returns of goods, the Rosselkhoznadzor addressed to Yunus Bayram with a request to prevent the repetition of violations.

The representative of the Turkish Competent Authority promised to take all necessary measures in the near future and work out this issue with exporting companies.

In addition, the parties discussed the possibility of resuming the supply of tomatoes and peppers to Russia from Izmir and Antalya provinces of the Turkish Republic. Earlier, the General Directorate of Food and Control audited all greenhouses and packaging stations, and based on the results of the audits a list of enterprises that meet Russian requirements and are free from tomato brown rugose fruit virus and Pepino mosaic virus was compiled. This list will be sent to the Rosselkhoznadzor.

The parties thanked each other for the constructive dialogue and agreed to continue prompt cooperation to resolve emerging issues.
