On August 27 negotiations between the Rosselkhoznadzor and the Department of Livestock Development (DLD) of the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives of the Kingdom of Thailand were held by videoconference.
The meeting participants discussed issues related to the supply of livestock products from the Russian Federation. In particular, it was announced that in September 2019, a delegation of the Thai Сompetent Authority visited Russia in order to familiarize themselves with the measures to control ASF and prevent it’s spread. The Thai party noted that now it has comprehensive data on the meticulous and large-scale work carried out in Russia in this direction and announced its readiness to recognize the principle of regionalization in the territory of the Russian Federation for highly dangerous animal diseases, including ASF.
However, a separate Committee for Risk Analysis of Product Import to Thailand will decide the issue of authorizing the supply of Russian pig products to Thailand on the basis of the report provided on the results of the visit to Russia. The Rosselkhoznadzor and the DLD will complete the work on the preparation of this report in the near future and send it to the Committee, which will provide its opinion on this issue after an appropriate analysis.
During the negotiations, the parties also discussed the possibility of supplying beef from Russia to Thailand. The colleagues from DLD said that they were considering the latest materials from Rosselkhoznadzor and would soon provide their answer. In addition, the Rosselkhoznadzor requested from foreign colleagues the requirements for export of live pigs, milk and dairy products, feed and feed additives to the Kingdom. The Thai party will send them to the address of the Russian Authority.
At the same time, the Rosselkhoznadzor announced the interest of Russian establishments producing ready-to-eat meat products and semi-finished meat products in the supply of such controlled goods to Thailand. The Service will send a list of them and a list of their products for examination to the Department of Livestock Development of the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives of the Kingdom.
The parties thanked each other for the talks and expressed hope for the possibility of organizing mutual visits after stabilization of the epidemiological situation in the world.
