The videoconference between the Rosselkhoznadzor and the Secretariat for Plant and Animal Health Protection of Brazil with the participation of the Brazilian Embassy was held in Moscow on August 6.
The Rosselkhoznadzor reported that since 2017 it had repeatedly sent requests to the Brazilian Authority for inspection of two establishments supplying lysine to Russia. However no official response has been received to date, which indicated a refusal to carry out inspections.
This formed the basis for the Rosselkhoznadzor decision since July 27 to suspend the import of lysine into Russia from two Brazilian establishments authorized for export.
In 2020 the Rosselkhoznadzor also prepared and forwarded to Brazil a questionnaire regarding lysine production and export in terms of monitoring compliance with the requirements of Russia and the EAEU countries.
The representative of the Secretariat for Plant and Animal Health Protection of Brazil expressed regret at the lack of a proper response to the Rosselkhoznadzor requests and said that active work is currently underway to complete the questionnaire received.
The Brazilian side intends to forward all the requested materials by the end of August.
In addition, it was noted that one of the two Brazilian establishments had ceased lysine production since 2018 and, therefore, had been removed from the register of exporters.
In conclusion, the parties exchanged contacts for the prompt forwarding of all the necessary information and confirmed their intention to strengthen cooperation in this direction.
