The meeting was held in Moscow on September 26, 2019.
Representatives of the Sri Lanka Embassy to the Russian Federation and Tea
Board participated to the meeting.
The parties discussed export of plant products to Russia.
Sri Lanka is currently the largest black tea exporter to Russia. Also, coconut
milk, spices, nuts, dried clove and other commodities are imported to Russia
from Sri Lanka.
The Russian party noted that no violations have been
detected in plant products imported from Sri Lanka for the last 3 years. In
2017, the Rosselkhoznadzor delegation visited Sri Lanka for assessment of tea
production scale and familiarization with the system for ensuring exported tea
The Rosselkhoznadzor clarified some requirements for import
of quarantinable products to Russian Federation and the EAEU member countries
at the request of Sri Lankan party.
The Sri Lankan representatives have thanked the
Rosselkhoznadzor officials for close and fruitful cooperation and assured that
premium quality tea export to Russia is a priority for their country.
The Rosselkhoznadzor officials expressed their confidence in
further improvement of bilateral trade relations including increase in export
of Russian grain products to Sri Lanka.
