Sergey Dankvert held a meeting with Director General of the World Organisation for Animal Health Monique Eloit on the sidelines of ‘Golden Autumn-2018’ exhibition.
In the course of the meeting the parties discussed the forthcoming visit of Dr Monique Eloit to the FGBI ‘ARRIAH” subordinate to the Rosselkhoznadzor which would take place on October 11 as well as global trends in animal disease spread.
Monique Eloit appreciated the Rosselkhoznadzor work to control ASF and other animal diseases.
The sides acknowledged the need to enhance state veterinary control in Russia due to further deteriorating of unfavourable international epidemiological situation.
The OIE Director General said that regional veterinary services along with the Rosselkhoznadzor had to tighten control.
Dr Eloit also stated that since large number of animals was bred on backyards in Russia, investment in veterinary specialists working in rural areas was crucial. In this regard, Sergey Dankvert observed that establishing a system of veterinary education similar to ‘Zemsky doctor’ programme was touched upon inter alia at the meeting presided by Russian president Vladimir Putin which took place on October 9, Tuesday, in Mineralnye Vody.
The parties held a press conference at the issue of the meeting where they articulated key activities of the Rosselkhoznadzor and the OIE and answered questions from the press.
