Temporary Restrictions Imposed due to Registration of Infection with Avian Influenza Viruses of Low Pathogenicity in the Territory of Germany

The Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance informs that due to registration of infection with avian influenza virus of low pathogenicity in the territory of Germany, temporary restrictions on import of live birds, hatching eggs, fluff and feather, poultry meat and all kinds of poultry products, feeds and feed additives for poultry and second-hand equipment for keeping, slaughter and dressing of birds coming from the district of Nordhausen (federal land of Thuringia) will be imposed from 04.12.2009.

In this connection, it is necessary to add the words “except district of Nordhausen (federal land of Thuringia)” in point 4 after the words “avian influenza, notifiable (according to OIE Terrestrial Animal Health Code) – during the last 6 months in the territory of the EC country” in the veterinary certificates for poultry meat and raw poultry meat products, day-old chicks, turkey-poults, ducklings, goslings and hatching eggs of these bird species during import of these products from the Federal Republic of Germany into the Russian Federation. These words should be signed and stamped by the official veterinarian, who issued this veterinary certificate.
