On July 12 the Rosselkhoznadzor participated in the business mission of Russian exporting companies with the Republic of Singapore that was virtually organized by the Agroexport Federal Center.
The forum attracted the attention of the business audience and government agencies. The plenary session was opened by Deputy Minister of Agriculture of Russia Sergey Levin and Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry of Singapore Tan See Leng.
The Trade Representative of Russia in Singapore, representatives of the Eurasian Economic Commission, the Food Agency of Singapore, the Singapore Health Council, the Islamic Religious Council of Singapore, representatives of companies successfully developing the Singapore market, which can serve as a "gateway" to the markets of other countries of the Asian and Pacific region, gave information on the state and prospects of trade and economic cooperation between the parties.
Advisor to the Head of the Rosselkhoznadzor Vasily Lavrovsky noted the positive history of relations between the supervisory authorities of the two countries, including the successful approval of veterinary certificates for the supply of poultry meat, poultry and pork ready-to-eat products, dairy products to Singapore, and the certification of five Russian establishments for the supply of these types of products. In addition, 20 Russian establishments and fishing vessels can supply fish and aquatic products using the common EAEU export certificates.
Within possible expansion of the list of Russian suppliers to Singapore, the foreign colleagues, after lengthy approvals, accepted the Rosselkhoznadzor's proposal to conduct video inspections of the establishments that had previously been assessed with positive results based on documentary checks. If the trial inspection is successful, this mode can be used in the future until the epidemiological situation in the world improves.
The Rosselkhoznadzor is expecting the decision of the Food Agency of Singapore regarding the possibility of supplying beef and pork, which should be preceded by the recognition of the Russian system of regionalization with regard to certain animal diseases.
The representative of the Islamic Religious Council of Singapore stressed that the supply of Russian meat products to the Singapore market can be greatly facilitated by the Halal certification based on the national standard, which is one of the strictest and most specified in the world.
Advisor to the Head of the Rosselkhoznadzor, in turn, noted that having respect for cultural and religious traditions of the Muslim population in Russia and foreign countries, and taking into account the size of the market and the growing demand for halal products in the world, the Service interacts and is ready for further cooperation with manufacturers of such products within its competence (control of epidemic and food safety), while leaving the spiritual and ritual component of certification and halal standards at the discretion of the Islamic clergy.
At the end of the session Vasily Lavrovsky highly appraised the good organization of the event and the relevance of the issues put up for discussion, wishing the participants success in their work.
The forum will last until July 16, and about 120 bilateral meetings are planned within this period.
