On July 6, Head of the Rosselkhoznadzor, Sergey Dankvert, held a videoconference with representatives of leading industry unions, associations and their member companies to discuss the situation around the import of foreign feed and feed additives to Russia.
The Head of the Rosselkhoznadzor drew the attention of the feed market participants to the fact that the veterinary services of foreign countries, from where the import of feed and feed additives to Russia was suspended, did not show readiness to enter the negotiations with the agency. At the same time, the level of the current control over the safety of feed products sent to Russia has been reduced to an unacceptable level. Against this background, the lack of dialogue with the competent authorities and responses to the Rosselkhoznadzor's requests for providing the necessary information do not allow prompt resolution of the issues related to import of feed products to Russia.
Detailed information about the serious shortcomings of the official control systems identified during the inspections in the countries exporting feed and feed additives, including those that can cause the introduction of dangerous animal diseases into Russia, is available here.
Sergey Dankvert said that under the current circumstances, the Rosselkhoznadzor temporarily allowed the export of feed and feed additives from a certain list of companies and provided the veterinary services of the exporting countries with another opportunity to strengthen control and send convincing evidence of that to the Russian agency.
In particular, the certification of products from 27 feed and feed additives manufacturers from Germany, 14 manufacturers from the Netherlands, 4 from Spain and 2 from Canada was resumed for a period of 3 months.
During the meeting, the Head of the Rosselkhoznadzor explained in detail all aspects of the current state of affairs and openly answered questions from the business community and industry unions.
