Video conference negotiations between Sergey Dankvert, Head of the Rosselkhoznadzor, and Ivan Ontaneda Berru, Minister of Production, Foreign Trade, Investments and Fisheries of the Republic of Ecuador, took place on April 21 2021.
Officials of the Ecuadorian Embassy to the Russian Federation, Ecuador Trade Representation in Russia as well as officials of the RF Ministry of Foreign Affairs participated to the negotiations.
It has been noted that Ecuadorian fish and sea product supplies increase despite of complicated epidemic situation in the world. Thus, according to the data as of April 16, 2021 shipping of frozen fish increased from 2.5 tons to 5.4 tons, crustaceans shipping increased by 2 times up to 8.5 tons as compared with that ones in the same period of the last year.
During negotiations Sergey Dankvert, Head of the Rosselkhoznadzor, informed about lifting of temporary restrictions on sea product export from one Ecuadorian establishment from April 21, 2021. The decision was made upon all requested report submission by the Ecuadorian Secretariat for Quality and Safety.
The parties intend to agree the plan for video-inspections of 26 Ecuadorian aquaculture and fishing companies for inclusion them to the List of the third country establishments authorized for export to the Russian Federation and Eurasian Economic Union in the nearest future. Russian authority is awaiting for additional materials on the said establishments. Consultations at the level of technical experts of two countries are planned prior to on-line monitoring.
Moreover, according to Sergey Dankvert, the Rosselkhoznadzor is reviewing information on fishing establishments provided by the Ecuadorian competent authority. At the end of 2020 Ecuadorian colleagues forwarded relevant materials to the Russian party for making amendments to the List of the third country establishments by types of activities of the exporting companies.
Ivan Ontaneda Berru, Minister of Production, Foreign Trade, Investments and Fisheries of the Republic of Ecuador expressed gratitude to Sergey Dankvert for efforts taken by the Rosselkhoznadzor. Ecuadorian competent authorities, in turn, are ready to comply with all the requirements of the Russian Federation and Eurasian Economic Union legislation and maintain local product quality at high level. Ivan Ontaneda Berru underlined the existing opportunities for developing bilateral trade relations and attracting Russian investors to the country.
