On the eve of the 6th meeting of the Intergovernmental Russian-Ecuadorian Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation, which will be held on November 19-20, 2019 in Quito, Sergey Dankvert held a meeting of the Russian Party of the IGC, dedicated to the progress of its preparation, in Moscow.
The meeting was attended by the representatives of the Russian Government, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Economic Development, the Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Ministry of Energy, the Ministry of Education and Science, the Ministry of Digital development, Communications and Mass Communications, National Committee for the Promotion of Economic Cooperation with Latin American countries, as well as Russian companies interested in developing trade relations with Ecuador.
During the meeting, the participants analyzed the development of bilateral cooperation in various fields and defined priority topics to be considered during the 6th meeting.
Sergey Dankvert, who has been co-Chairman of The Russian-Ecuadorian IGC for 7 years, said that diversification of mutual trade, deepening and expansion of cooperation in many areas and implementation of projects beneficial for both countries are of primary importance.
In particular, efforts should be focused on identification and implementation of joint projects in the field of energy, including the peaceful use of nuclear energy, industry, as well as in science, pharmaceuticals, information technology, outer space and agriculture.
At the same time, reduced activity was marked in some areas of cooperation. The participants of the meeting associated it with a difficult political situation in Ecuador.
In conclusion, Sergey Dankvert underlined the need to have clear positions on all issues requiring prompt solutions and to carefully prepare proposals regarding the promising initiatives that will be considered during the IGC meeting in Quito.
